Rev Paul Saunders

Spotlight on Paul . . .
In September, we were pleased to welcome Rev Paul Saunders and his wife Kina to the north-east. Paul has been appointed the Superintendent of the South West Tyneside Circuit of the Methodist Church, and Minister in charge of Fellside. Kina is working as a Deacon in the Gateshead and Jarrow Circuit, so they have their work cut out!
Paul and Kina have been looking forward to moving to the north-east, and to put you in the picture, we asked him to give us a potted history of what's happened so far in his life and ministry. Paul writes:
'I was born and raised in the industrial West Midlands, the Black Country for those who know it, and had a couple of careers before I became a minister. I worked in retail for a number of years, then spent ten years as a civil servant working in Unemployment Benefits. It was in 1995 that I first felt God calling me to ministry, and when God asks you to do something, it's difficult to say no!
I trained at Wesley Theological College in Bristol for two years, and have since served churched in the Northwich Circuit in Cheshire, and the Torbay Circuit in South Devon. I enjoy walking, reading - particularly sci-fi and fantasy, and watching American Football.'
Well, you’re in the right place for walking Paul, but we’re going to have to convert you to Newcastle United! Fellside welcomes you both, and we look forward to your ministry among us.
